D. M. Bibby enlisted in Co. "C", 18th Alabama Infantry at Cedar Grove AL on July 24, 1861. He appears on roll as sick in regimental hospital for Sept-Oct. & Nov.-Dec. 1862. He was admitted to Floyd House-Ocmulgee Hospitals (Macon GA) from his station at Chattanooga on Nov. 26, 1863, suffering from chronic diarrhea. A year later he was a patient in Newsom hospital, Cassville GA, Nov. 11, 1864. He was captured when Blakely AL was overrun on Apr. 9, 1865, sent to Ship Island, New Orleans, and then Vicksburg. He was exchanged on May 6, 1865, on the Big Black River near Vicksburg and sent to Meridian MS, where he was paroled on May 9, 1865.

I can provide a little detail about his regiment and its history if that's of interest.
