If you have an opportunity plan to attend a performance of "Incident At Looney's Tavern" in Double Springs, Winston County, AL. Show is presented from Apr thru Oct....can't recall the exact dates. Family tradition has it that the people of Winston County referred to their county as "The Free State of Winston". I was also surprised to find a Union ancestor.
