I know nothing of the Sharpshooters, but
the letter appears to have been written by
1st Sgt Christopher P.C. McKnight, Co H,
47th Ala Inf Rgt; the capt is Capt De Bernie
Waddell commander of Co G, 15th Ala Inf Rgt;
the records mentions nothing other that Capt
Waddell was detailed to command a brigade of
sharpshooters sometime before the surrender
in Apr 1865.
