Sifakis states that the 26th Ala was formed
by increasing the 3d Bn, Ala Inf in Mar 1862;
Brewer makes no mention of it but does state
th 26/50th Ala was formed in Mar 1862 by the
consolidation of two unnamed bn's; problem
is: my GreatGPa and my wife's GreatGPa both
enlisted in Co A of the 26th Ala in Fayette,
Ala in mid-1861; not trying to stir the pot,
just wanted to throw in what I have always
believed to be a fact.
