Custer's Last Band: Concert, CD, Website
Mon May 21 17:25:12 2001

Based on rare manuscripts from the archives of America's Shrine to Music Museum (http://www.usd.edu/smm) at The University of South Dakota, a first-ever compact disc recording, Custer's Last Band: Original Music by Felix Vinatieri, Custer's Legendary Bandmaster, will be released nationally by the Museum, when it presents a concert by Steve Charpie and The New Custer Band, based in Los Angeles, at the Summit Center Auditorium in Yankton, South Dakota, at 8:00 PM on June 13, 2001. This is the music that Custer and his troops heard daily during the last three years of their lives, but has not been heard since, played on period instruments, including Vinatieri's own E-flat cornet.
