Keep in mind tht no list in complete, but out of 377 Grisham listings (Union and Confed.)that I have none are listed with 4(Roddey's) Al Cav. many are with other Al. cav. units the 11th Al. has many. No A. S. Grisham was found. One Alexander Grisham is listed with an ARK. Unit. Is there an alternate spelling of Grisham? Do you know if his pension was granted? If it was, there is every reason to beleive that the authorities were able to confirm his service.
