Rousseau's yankee raiders destroyed a part near Auburn before being driven off in the battle at Chehaw Station in July of 64. Kilpatrick's Cav destroyed a portion in July before being defeated at the battle of Lovejoy station Ga. The road was put back into service shortly after both these raids.
