Battle of Girard

From what I have read, after an assignment in east MS to repel raiders, the 65th AL Inf was in route to NC but was stopped at Montgomery and ordered to join General Buford where it was engaged in the Battle of Girard just outside Phenix City, AL during the defense of Columbus, GA., losing several k and w, and the remainder mostly captured, 16 April 1865. Does anyone have other info on this battle? Anyone been to the battlefield site?
