3 Cav CSA (Ala)Skirmish fatality
Mon Mar 5 22:25:36 2001

My Great Uncle was Levi Clakley/Clakeley/Clarkely ( all these spellings are on the actual records ) who was enlisted in the 3rd Cav CSA ( Ala )Capt Jno. McCaskill, on Dec 25, 1861 at Arkadelphia Al. Muster rolls show companies C and D. Also he was on the company muster roll on Jan 4 1862 at Nashville Tn. There is also paperwork that shows the company as D of the 3/11 Cav. (I assume the 3rd merged with the 11th after his death)It was dated in Nov. of 1864.
Levi Clakley was killed in a skirmish near Albany Ky.(I believe this was also known as Mountain Gap) on October 16, 1862. He was 19 years old.
Levi's father, Solomon Clakley was paid 60.86 for Levi's enlistment time from May to Oct.(time of death); 50.00 bounty ( can someone please tell me what this bounty is ?); and 50.00 for six months of clothing allowance.
I would like to find his place of burial, I have not been able to locate any information concerning his burial site. His family was not a wealthy one, so there was no servant to bring his body home. Where would I begin to look for this information ? Can someone give me input on the liklihood of his body being sent home ?
Thanks in advance for any information or advice
