Johnson's Division

At the time Gracie's Brigade belonged to Bushrod Johnson's Division, which had been assigned to Longstreet's command. The division wintered in the valley northeast of Knoxville and moved into Virginia when Longstreet's Corps was recalled. Upon arriving at Richmond, Johnson's Division was assigned to Beauregard, who fought off Butler's attacks on the capitol while Lee struggled with Grant at Spottsylvania.

Anyone interested in the activies of Gracie's Brigade during May 1864 should read "Back Door To Richmond: The Bermuda Hundred Campaign, April-June 1864", by William Glenn Robertson, Louisiana State University Press, 1991.

I should be more exact and provide relevant orders from the Official Records, don't have access to them at the moment.
