I presume this is the same person (I don't find a listing for a Hughes in Co. "E")M. D. Moreland had a battalion which was increased to a regiment sometime before 10 June 1864. It was in Roddy's Cavalry Division and was with Nathan B. Forrest at Brice's Crossroads. They also fought against Wilson's Raid into AL in 1865.
