I see you have a reply however I did look at the micrfilm which does not have much info. First James Chesnt and that is the way it is spelled, Muster Roll June 20, 1863/Dec 1863 reported missing in action near Sevierville , TN. On Feb 6, 1864 he signed an Oath of Allegiance. No POW papers.
Joseph B. Chesnut also of Co H. captured Nov 1863 near Trenton, GA. Dec 14, 1863 recieved at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, IN. May 18, 1865 released on Oath. Records state residence Rome, GA, Complexion dark, Hair dark, 5 ft 7 1/8 in tall. One other document states aptured 11/3/63 Chattanooga, TN, which is very close to Trenton, GA. Did not look at pension files however they may be listed in another unit as the first reply indicates.
