Youngest Confederate Soldier

June 9, 1897 Huntsville "Weekly Mercury" Col Josiah Patterson stated he had the youngest Confederate Soldier under his command. William E. Clutts, Cluttsville, Madison Co. Al, entered the military at age 12 years 6 months of age with his father. Near the end of the war he joined the 5th AL Cav. commanded by Patterson. Clutts born July 16, 1848 at Monrovia, Madison Co. AL was 49 years of age when the newspaper was written. "Anyone know of a younger soldier??
