Charles Carter Hay, Co.C, 45th AL laid claim to being the
youngest Confederate soldier. He wrote a book called "Cleburne and his Flag" which I haven't ever found a
copy of. He bases his claim on drilling the 15th AL while an
eleven year old cadet at Glennvillle Military Academy. He is
an elusive man....hard to follow through the census and even
his tombstone has no dates.
