Hayes LoweConfederate laws and Alabama lawsSat Feb 3 09:11:59 2001 Yes, those are just the journals of proceedings. I haven't gone through them, and they may contain some actual laws passed, though.I haven't had access to Cumberland's library since I became interested in looking at this. They have new rules about who may use the library, and why, if you are not a student. I can get access, but it takes pulling some strings. Maybe I should do that. I would guess that if they had 1861, they probably had 1862-65.I had written that the Alabama Supreme Court reports for 1861-65 were first printed after the war. I went back and looked at the pre-war reports, and before the war they were printed each year or two. Looks like they were not printed at all during the war. There are quite a few cases regarding the Conscription Acts and how they apply, and especially on the State's rights (or lack thereof) in overruling Confederate national law. These give a real insight into the various conscription laws, and names quite a few names that may not be found any where else (specifically conscription officer's names and names of conscripts and substitutes).Conscription Law Alabama in 1862 Amanda Baltz, Wed Feb 28 12:20 Conscription Miles Krisman, Mon Mar 5 20:43 You're on the right trail; keep going n/m Alan Pitts, Sun Feb 4 22:41
