There are many contradictions in the details of command reported by his sources. This is evident in scanning his histories of the different regimental command changes in particular brigades.

He says the Gracie/Moody Brigade was actually assigned to the Beauregard force assembled late to help with the defense of the Petersburg line and surrendered by Lee in the end with the rest of the forces in the area, of course.

He says one of the regiments was actually patched together in Virginia with conscripts after the departure of the 26th Alabama was requested and initiated by the Alabama legislature.

He also suggests Battle, of the 3rd Al, in the history of the 3rd) was given command of Rodes old brigade before Gettysburg. Oneal, of the 26th, (stated in his history of the 26th) replaced Rodes upon his (Rodes) promotion to division (Hill H) command.

He must not have had a grasp of Alabama brigade makeup and history at the time of that writing. They are simple contradictions that should have been obvious. He must have relied on sources not so easily verified.
