Hayes Lowe
And that makes *four* 40th flags!
Wed Jan 24 14:14:22 2001

"These are all from men of the respective regiments (20th, 23rd, 37th, 40th and 46th - two of which were from Moore's command) - one (37th ALA) stating that they received their flag at Demopolis and lost it on Missonary Ridge."

1. Mobile, Ala. Summer 1862 (per Col. Gulley)
2. Vicksburg, Miss. 1863 (per Col. Gulley)
3. Demopolis while in parole camp, after July 4, 1863.
4. Between the Battle of Lookout Mountain and before the Atlanta Campaign [perhaps at Dalton, Ga.] (per writings of personal recollections by Henry Seale's grandfather)

The plot thickens.
