Actually,

I have my doubts as to the Vicksburg issued flag. I have foudn that memoirs of soldiers written long after the war are very often quite faulty. I go with thos written during or shortly after first for accuracy. Experience in tracking down CS flags for 12 years has taught me that.

Still - I am open to Gulley's story if, and only if, we can get other evidence that supports the Vicksburg flag.
