Just as an interesting Alabama related tidbit on the 38th Tenn. Inf., Major Andrew Dunne Gwynne of the 26th/50th Ala. Inf. Regt. (Tennessee; wounded, Shiloh) was promoted to Lt. Col., 38th Tenn. Inf. Regt.

Looks like when the 26th/50th got its Alabama men (Cos. H & K of the 38th Tenn.), then the 38th got the Tenn. men of the 26th/50th!
