My ggfather served in an Alabama infantry unit. Family lore suggests that he was wounded in battle resulting in an amputation of a leg, which eventually caused his death after the war. He is named William Zachary Taylor and lived in Naftel Alabama, southeast of Montgomery. He was survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth, a son William Zachary, and daughter Martha Elizabeth b. 1869.
