I had suspected that this may have been the same as Moses' Squad. Was this Moses the Sidney A. Moses who was Major of the 8th Cav.? I know that he is said to have been from Russell County.

I'm not sure if the man that I'm looking for was from West Alabama. In fact, where he was from is what I'm trying to determine. This would be Jesse L. Garrett. Jesse L. was probably a student at the Univ. of Alabama when the war started. It's not looking as if the Jesse in Co. I of the 8th was the right Jesse.

Jesse L. appears to have had a brother named James J. Their signatures appear together in the front of an 1860 dated textbook, indicating that they both owned it. I'm suspecting now that they are the Jesse L. and J.J. Garretts who are both in the 62nd Ala. Inf., though they are in different companies. I sure wish that I could find the full name of the J.J. Garrett in the 62nd.
