Cav., Co. D. This was previously Company D of the 2nd Regiment Mississippi and Alabama Cavalry. Most of the same men were in both. Company D was McCaa's Raiders/Rangers. It was formed in Lowndes Co., Miss. but consisted mostly of men from Pickens County, Alabama.The 42nd had two companies of men from Pickens County, and the 12th Miss.
