Greg Wallace
Davis' in the 42nd Ala

George Washington Davis was mustered into service at Macon, Ms by Capt S M Lowry. He entered into Armsteads Calvary Company K. Some of his papers list him as a Sergeant and others list him as a private. He was wounded and captured at Lafayette Georgia and sent to Camp Morton Indiana. That is where he first appears as a sergeant. His pension states that he entered into service in the 42nd Ala in August of 1862 and then transferred 2 mths later to the 12th Confederate Calvary no company mentioned. I am sure the pension should have said the 12th Ms calvary.
