William Alford
5th AL Regiment Reunion Photo?
Thu Sep 14 01:17:43 2000

We have been researching our geneology as part of my Dad completing his autobiography (450 pages and counting) at age 83 and have, by sheer luck, obtained a photograph of my great-grandfather, Richard Redden Alford (Private, Co. K, 5th AL Regiment - one of the only three remaining members of Co. K at the Appomattox surrender), at a reunion of what must be Geneva Co., AL CSA veterans around 1910 (judging from Richard's age in the photo). There are 47 gentlemen in the photo; one holding a CSA battle flag. I have no way of finding out where it was taken or who the others in the photograph are (we suspect the identity of one other). Richard was in the CSA Veterans' Camp 1660 according to his obituary. Would there be records of this camp somewhere? I have tried various efforts but with no success. I'd appreciate any advice that I can get about how to pursue this lead.
