If the family tradition says that he died at Chickamauga
have you tried getting in touch with the historian, Jim Ogden, there. I know they keep files on the men who fought
at Chickamauga. It's a long shot, but worth trying.
Of course you know that not being in the Compiled Service Records doesn't mean a thing. I've found about 100
men so far mostly from AL Pension Applications, cemetery
records, and newspaper articles. Even if he was killed a mother or wife could have filed for a pension.
