I would have replied privately if I knew your address.
I think I have already done everything that you suggested
except cross-referencing the Order Of Battle with the companies. I know which companies came from which counties
for the most part or at least which were recruited in a certain county.
I am in the process of doing all the rest you mentioned.
I found out early on to expect twice the number of men that
Confederate Military History said were enlisted and started
out for their training camp. The first man I couldn't find
a record on was buried at Resaca.
I don't think that I am going to get through this year.
A friend of mine has worked over 15 years on Franklin and
Nashville and we kid each other that there is no stopping point. New material keeps coming to light. At least I've
beaten the bushes for material on the 45th AL and have stirred up enough interest that I received two emails in one
week suggesting that I hand over all my material to some individuals and we could share the credit. Next they will
want my children too.
