I have a gg grandfather, Caleb Linfield Evans, who was conscripted into the CSA I am told from Calhoun Co., Alabama, and was a casualty on June 13, 1863. I have some word of mouth he was an assistant surgeon. There is a C.L. Evans on the compiled list as "Gen&Staff, Asst. Surg."
