There are separate microfilm rolls for non-regimental soldiers. One set is I think called "Staff Officers and non-regimental enlisted men". Another is I think called "Confederate Medical Officers". The Central Library in Birmingham has both of these sets.

There is another set of rolls, called "Confederate Unfiled Papers and Slips" which I have found contains a lot of information on Confederate Surgeons. I found several pages on those rolls pertaining to the service of my ancestor, Dr. William D. Lyles.
