Daniel Allen LonswayCamp Beauregard- sorting it all out.Mon Dec 25 23:24:48 2000 Alan, I again wish you to know that I am extremely grateful for your help- especially on Christmas! I have just read through your last post, and will begin sorting it all out in my mind (and on paper) either later tonight or early tommorrow.I can see allready that several units that were generally considered to be present at Camp Beauregard may in fact not have been there at all. I am not sure on how these misunderstandings and misinformation got passed on. I've used so many different sources that It is not an easy task to figure out where I came up with each regiment- but I have them and will try to put them in order. The text I mentioned, The History of Camp Beauregard, is several pages long. I have at time used books by local authors and/or books (or parts of books) on Columbus to search for any mention of the Camp or Units stationed there. The main rough-draft of my first list, I pulled from The History of Camp Beauregard. It did not even list all of the Units mentioned in the book, however, and I had to scan it just to copy all of those down. (side note: I checked and double checked my writing & spelling, any mistakes had to have come from the sources that I used).I will send a picture (or two) of the monument. I can send you a copy of some of the known information that I have on the camp. If you are interested in actually purchasing a copy of this book, I'm sure you could contact the local SCV post. I will check into that If you wish. (The book is 50 pages and I bought mine so long ago that I can not remember how much it costs. I go to the memorial service every year at the first of June.)Agian, I thank you for your help & time. I will post again as soon as I can organize what you have sent me so far, and I will look into the other. Very Sincerely,Daniel Allen Lonsway (Old Dan)Brewer's Cavalry Battalion Alan Pitts, Wed Dec 27 22:04 Walker's/Baskerville's Cav. Battalion Hayes Lowe, Fri Dec 29 11:39
