Some related excerpts taken out of context from the book that I am working on, which may be of some help:

"McCaa's [Pickens County, Alabama] company of men first joined Pope Walker Troopers, which [later] became the 2nd (Pope Walkers) Battalion Mississippi Cavalry. McCaa's Company was Company B of this Battalion. The battalion was at Columbus, Miss. in December 1861, and was ordered to report at Bowling Green, Ky. By January 1862 the battalion was at Paris, Tenn."

"After the fall of Ft. Donelson, the battalion (then under Major Baskerville) consisted of 130 men, and was ordered to Purdy's Landing on the Tennessee River. It was a part of Gen. Chalmer's Brigade. Before the Battle of Shiloh (April 1862), the battalion was merged with Brewer's Miss. Battalion to form the Alabama and Mississippi Battalion. This newly organized battalion was used extensively during events before, during, and after the battle of Shiloh. A part skirmished with Federal outposts; a detachment was sent for reconnaissance; one company was taken as escort by General Polk; the battalion was used to cover the front while the army advanced from Corinth to Shiloh field; and, three companies skirmished on the lines on the morning of April 6, participated in a flanking action that afternoon, and stayed behind after the battle for three days gathering arms from the battlefield."

"The 2nd Mississippi and Alabama Regiment was mustered into service in May, 1862 by the consolidation of Brewer's 2nd Miss. Cav. Battalion, Faulkner's Battalion (Co. B of 8th Conf.), Baskerville's Battalions, Company K of the 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion, and Ball's Battalion. [The consolidation was on November 14-17, 1861 at Columbus, Miss. according to some sources, but it appears that this was actually the organizational date of Pope Walkers Troopers.] It was composed of six Alabama and four Mississippi companies."

I hope this gives some clue as to whether any of Baskerville's companies may have been at Camp Beuregard.
