You're welcome. Logwood and Miller were leaders of cavalry units that operated in the area, but were not assigned to Colonel Bowen's command. I'd also read Bowen's biography in The Confederate General. Two Tennessee companies were part of Brewer's Battalion but later transferred to the 7th Tennessee Cavalry. I think those are on your list as well.

The Alabama companies are Andrew W. Bowie's "Mountain Rangers" and Jefferson Faulkner's "Chambers Cavalry", both organized in July 1861 and sent to western Kentucky within a few weeks. All the information about Brewer's Battalion came from his file in the General & Staff microfilm and records filed with the 8th Confederate Cavalry. There may be some other references under the 2nd Mississippi-Alabama Cavalry Battalion as well as the 4th Mississippi (Baskerville's) Cavalry Battalion.

The Alabama companies in John D. Martin's 1st Mississippi Valey are the "Jackson Hornets", Capt. John Snodgrass, Jr., and the "Madison Guards", Capt. Felix M. ('Fee') Taylor. Daniel R. Hundley was the original captain of the latter unit. It's interesting that Capt. Taylor signed his parole as a member of this company, even though he had been serving as Captain of a company if Alabama cavalry for some time. Both these units were assigned to the 16th Alabama Infantry Battalion when Martin's regiment disbanded on May 8, 1862. That battalion eventually became merged with Norwood's 6th Battalion to form the 55th Alabama Regiment.

Yes I would like a picture. I'd also like to see the paper on the camp if that's possible. I will check on the other units you listed, although I suspect I have very little on them. Merry Christmas!
