Jim2nd Al. CavalryWed Dec 6 11:15:32 2000 Can anyone shed light on why elements of the 2nd Al. Cavalry were sent to a camp near Carthage (Moundville, AL)from November '64 until at least January? They had been involved in part of Wheeler's rear guard actions protecting Hood's rear in Cherokee County, AL until Sherman turned back to begin his march to the sea. Then most of the regiment, apparently, joined Wheeler to nip at Sherman's heels. At least some od the 2nd were sent to what seems to have been a holding camp.
