Lee A. PhillipsA VEXING Question - please throw me an idea.Sun Nov 26 16:49:32 2000 My ggg grandfather, Angus McDuffee, served in the 2nd AL CAV, G Company (from Coosa Co.). His brief Nat. Arch. service record last mentions him in May of 1864. He was in Selma, AL, at that time, receiving a clothing requisition. Ala. archives has no record of a pension app., and their service card details are few. He survived the war, and settled back in Coosa, later Franklin, County. On Ancestry.com, I found a one-line reference to an AUGUST McDuffee in Co. G, 2nd Al Cav. Since Angus also went by August, this is NOT a misspelling of Angus. Somewhere, a record exists that lists Angus as August! Any ideas what it could be!? Ala. archives has no muster rolls. State of Ga. has no surrender muster roll (the 2nd surrendered in Forsyth, Ga., May 1865, after escorting Jeff Davis in his flight). Sent to Nat. Archives and requested a service record for August McDuffee, and they sent me the same thing they earlier sent for Angus. Ala. archives has no pension appl. for August either. Info. on the 2nd is sparse. I have already obtained all of the readily available info. (Pegues/DuBose manuscripts, etc.). I'd appreciate your suggestions/ideas.Spelling of name Donna, Wed Nov 29 16:39 name look-up Roy Hammett, Jr., Sun Nov 26 21:20 Argus McDuffee Henry Seale, Mon Nov 27 00:40 Thanks fellas.
