U.S.C.A. 38 sec. 2306 Headstones, markers, and grave liners.

(a) The Secretary shall furnish, when requested, appropriate Government headstones or markers at the expense of the United States for the unmarked graves of the following:

(3) Soldiers of the Union and Confederate Armies of the Civil War.


This is not exactly what I'm looking for, but it is the related law on the tombstones. I'm still looking for the other. My references only go back to 1958, when the Code on Veteran's Benefits was revamped. It states that all persons who were eligible under the "laws in effect on December 31, 1957" remain eligible, thus covering those older laws regarding veteran status.

I'll keep looking for those older books.
