It wasn't grave markers

Hey y'all,
First of all, Hayes and I are good enough friends now that I'm sure he did not take "pester" in the perjorative
sense.
Secondly: I know about the markers. I've even got some
forms here, but thanks anyway.
Thirdly: I am extremely interested in laws that Congress has passed in relation to our great Confederacy. I
have been told that in 1928?? there was a joint resolution
of the Senate and House giving the name "War Between the
States" as the official name of the War of 1861 - 1865. I
have been unable to find that resolution and to find that
Hayes has come up with something else is most interesting.
I knew from Jay Hoar's book "The South's Oldest Boys
in Grey" that Confederate veterans were treated in VA hospitals and that some of them survived long enough to be
treated with penicillin.
There has been such a change in the attitude of the
country toward the Confederacy just in my lifetime that I
wonder if I remember correctly when there was a time when
"Dixie" was played and the whole crowd stood. To be fair
it is not Congress that is responsible for this, but we have
almost reached a point where we will be ashamed to honor our
heroes. I could hardly believe it when a young friend of
mine, who is so typical of the men who rode with Forrest, had never heard of him and his step-father had not either. These are both men from north Alabama, but they missed out somewhere.
