Jim, this is from the current draft of my book:

"The [Tuscaloosa Plow Boys] company, along with two companies from Walker and Fayette Counties, Ala., was scheduled to join an Alabama regiment, but due to an outbreak of measles they were delayed. Five members of the Plow Boys died of the measles during the outbreak. The only regiment left at the camp of instruction was the 38th Tennessee Infantry, so they were attached to that regiment as Company G. Companies H and K were composed of men from Walker and Fayette Counties, and they too were attached to the 38th Tennessee. Companies H and K were later transferred to the 50th Alabama Infantry."

Company G served throughout the war with the 38th Tenn. Infantry.

Thanks for the kind words.
