My relative, James D. Powers born 1824 served with Capt. Thomas Rowe Thornton in 1861.
( I am not sure what happened to James.)
His four brothers died in the war. The bodies were returned to Port Royal for a mass burial at the home place named Sunnyside. It is now in Ft. A P Hill and in the danger zone. Nothing remains standing. I think it is sad that no one remembers them. Does anyone know more about this? Another brother David B. Powers returned from battle and I am a decendent of him. He is buried at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Port Royal.
