I have a copy of Balfour's '13th Virginia Cavalry' from the Virginia Regimental series. I think the regimental flag is pictured in it. Found his service records at the Library of Virginia in Richmond, so I can track where he was for much of the war. We have several books on Confederate cavalry action, but I haven't gotten into them much yet. I know he was at Gettysburg and we went to the East Cavalry field where Chambliss has a marker. He died when his oldest grandchild (my mama) was 12 and no one remembers ever hearing stories he might have told.
