Raine for the war, promoted 1st Lieutenant to take rank March 1, 1864,** last recorded present on the December 31, 1864 muster roll

* This company was successively designated as Captain Anderson's Company, Captain Raine's Company and Captain Hardwick's Company Virginia Light Artillery. It served in Andrews' and in Braxton's Battalion of Reserved Artillery which were composed of independent batteries.

** Andrews' (now Braxton's) Artillery Battalion, Army Northern Virginia, Artillery, 2nd Corps.

September 5, 1836 - Carter Moore Braxton is born in Norfolk.
May 8, 1861 - Railroad engineer Carter Moore Braxton becomes a captain in the Fredericksburg Artillery at the outbreak of the Civil War. His company is known as Braxton's Battery.
April 4, 1863 - Confederate artilleryman Carter Moore Braxton is promoted to major, to date from March 2.
March 14, 1864 - Confederate artilleryman Carter Moore Braxton is promoted to lieutenant colonel, to date from February 27.
