Colonel Charles H. Tyler

I posted the following to the Missouri Board but received no response and am hoping that someone can help.

While conducting other research, I found the following obituary printed in the 23 March 1882 issue of the Rockingham Register, Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, VA:

Near Cross Keys, in this county, March 17th, Col. C. H. Tyler, in his 57th year. He was very intelligent, and a thorough gentleman in all his bearings. He was a high minded and honorable man. He was a Captain in the United States service under A. S. Johnston before the war. He threw up his commission and joined the Southern army. He was for two years an inspector of cavalry under J. Stewart, and afterwards joined Price in the West. Since the war he has lived near Cross Keys, where the writer found him more than 12 years ago.

Would like to know more about his Confederate military record.

Thanks.
