I have been trying to locate the service record for my second great grandfather, Hiram E. Hatfield. According to letters he wrote to his sister, he was in the 48th Virginia Regiment, specifically the Valley Press Band. The letters are part of "The Hatfield Papers, Manuscripts and Rare Books Department, Swem Library, College of William and Mary". I have searched various database and have not found him. Some of the letters are signed "Hiley Hatfield" If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very greatful.
