Lt Col Wm Dabney Stuart

Around June 1861, during a brief period between command assignment with 15th Va Regt and command of 56th VA, Stuart (while in Richmond, but after relief from 15th VA) may have had some association with signaling (possible associated names, E.P. Alexander, J.H. Alexander, William N. Barker, E.P. Bryan). On or about 3 Jul 61, Magruder's signal officer, William Norris, was ordered to meet with Stuart in Richmond to ascertain condition of work accomplished thus far and to receipt for property [to be?] turned over to him by Stuart. I've been unable to nail down this involvement, which must have been with the work Alexander had commissioned early Jun '61 for initial manufacture of signal flags, torches, staffs, etc. prior to going to Centreville-Manassas. Are there any hints in Stuart's CSR of such involvement in signal matters?
