Stonewall's grave

Today I took my dog to the vet in Lexington. Since the dog was going to be at the vet for a couple of hours I went to get something to eat. After lunch and driving around Lexington for a short while I decided to visit Stonewall's grave, which I had not seen for several years. The site is very well maintained, but one thing caught my attention. On the grass around the monument were about 10 or 12 plastic lemons strewn about, the type found in grocery stores. Did Stonewall really suck on lemons or is it just an old fabrication passed down over the years?
