According to Lowell Reidenbaugh's 33rd Virginia Infantry in the Va. Regimental Histories Series, John Hopkins Baldwin, who was the Sgt. Major, 33rd Va., for June 1861 through May 1864, died by his own hand in Baltimore, 5/2/1877 and is buried there in Mt. Hebron Cem. His service record in that history does not list any wounds
