Company-I of the 50th didnt really have a nickname... more commonly refered to as a local designation. Some had the catchy heroic name sakes, many others simply were identified by its commanders name. In this case Co.I was originially just known as Capt Thomas Poages Company. Poage was later promoted to Colonel of the Regiment when it reorganized in May 1862. Thereafter the company was under the command of Capt Stephen H Stone.
