I looked through the cards. From the letter, it sounds like Joshua was home on furlough at the time Lorena was getting the letter ready to send to her aunt. It is dated March 29 and I think the year would be 1863 as she recounts the events of the fall of 62. I haven't seen the original letter, so I do not know how it was organized, if it was several pages that were later numbered, or what.
I found a muster card that says March and April 1863 and he is marked present.
Then there is a handwritten request for commutations for furlow from Feb 20 to hrough March 29, 1863 as near as I can make out the handwriting . Would the ordnance sergeant sign this for someone else who was making the request or would this be a request he made himself?
