I believe the two listed below are one and the same.

James Leeth, Company A, 41st Virginia Cavalry Battalion, enlisted April 1, 186_ in Warren County, recorded Present with rank as a 1st Corporal on the muster roll dated January 16, 1864, no further records

This company was formerly (1st) Company G, 18th Regiment Virginia Cavalry, and it subsequently became Company A, 23rd Regiment Virginia Cavalry

The 41st (also known as White's) Battalion Virginia Cavalry was organized by S. O. No. 223, A. & I. G. O., dated September 18, 1863 with four companies. It was later increased to seven companies by S. O. No. 99, A. & I. G. O., dated April 24,1 64, two companies of O'Ferrall's Battalion Virginia Cavalry and Captain Calmes' Company Virginia Cavalry were added to it to form the 23rd Regiment Virginia Cavalry

James Leeth, Company A, 23rd Virginia Cavalry, age 22, was paroled at Winchester, Virginia April 25, 1865, rank not stated, resident of Hardy County, West Virginia, 5' 6", florid complexion, blue eyes, light hair
.............

James Leath, enlisted in Captain James F. Trayhern's Company, White's Battalion Partisan Rangers (41st Battalion Cavalry) July 15, 186_, at Woodstock, recorded present, age 19, on the companies muster dated September 9, 1862, no further records

This company was divided about September 14, 1862; one part under Captain Trayhern was assigned to the 35th Battalion as Company D; the other part under Captain Makely subsequently became Company D, 18th Regiment Virginia Cavalry
