Guerrant describes Col. Giltner's delaying actions against Burbridge's advancing column as occuring at #1 Clinch Mountain, and then #2 Flat Top Mountain and finally falling back to #3 Laurel Gap. As I look at the maps, it seems that the three locations are not geographically found sitting in that order along the route the Union forces presumably took. Can anyone help me get correctly orientated on this aspect of Burbridges approach to the Saltworks?
