Rockbridge County Reserves
The Rockbridge County, VA., Reserves was organized April 16, 1864, with four companies. Its commanding officer has not been identified. The command was consolidated into three companies, August 8, 1864, by order of Col. E. G. Lee, commanding Reserve Forces of Valley District, and assigned to the 10th Bn. Va. Reserves, as Companies A and B, and to the 7th Bn. Va. Reserves as Co. C.
Capt. William A. Donald's Co; enlisted April 16, 1864 for the war; was probably composed of the same materials as Capt. William A. Donald's Co. Va. Local Degense, reported by A&IGO roster (1-103-147), as organized September 14, 1863 with the same company commissioned officers. Most of this company are found to have been assigned to Co. B, 10th Bn. Va. Reserves.
