Could be. Since he came from Floyd County and from everything I have been reading about that time in Floyd County, Floyd was heavily divided about the war. So maybe he held out as long as he could (he was a farmer) before he was forced to sign up.

I have always enjoyed reading about the Civil War but never delved into the military aspect so much. I'm finding this to be quite fascinating.
